i went to petsmart today and they has a slice of lemon in the tank with the fish (fantails) is that goos the seem to like it as all that was left was the rim of the slice wouldnt the acid affect the tank

You are right, the acid can affect the tank if too much lemon is left in the tank for too long. The small about if fairly weak acid in a slice of lemon wouldn't cause a problem in a typical tank.

Yep goldfish love Orange slices (lemon is too acidic) Once a week a slice of ornage clipped to the tank with a suction clip will bring out co lours like you won't believe! With a good filtration system and the way fish eat them up a thin slice of orange enhances colour making fish more sell able and your fish at home would love it!
