WITHOUT giving into the urge to run to the web for the answer -- can anyone name the first little leaguer to make it to the majors?

2 good guesses so far. Did not know that about Yaz. But it's neither of those fellas. Edit to guess again. It was a pitcher.

Hm. Them answers about Joey Jay have a little to much detail to be memory. But, of course, you are right. Now all we have to do is to clear up this little leaguer to the Hall thing.

Joey Jay, Milwaukee Braves, 1953. He played Little League in Middlebury, Conn.

Yaz was not the first Little League graduate to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Catfish Hunter was.

I think it was Joey Jay, a bonus baby pitcher for the 1953 Milwaukee Braves. He first made the majors at age 18.

I think it's Yastrzemski. I know he was the first former LLer to play to be inducted into the Hall.
