Adultery is generally defined as consensual sexual intercourse by a married person with someone other than their lawful spouse. If you're just chatting on-line, then no, that's not adultery.

That's a hard one to answer. Having been there myself and knowing that my marriage has been terrible for the past 7 years, I empathise with your situation.
Is it cheating, legally yes, but follow your heart. If the person you are married to neglects you or does not meet up to the expectation that you from a man (ie. help pay the bill, take out the trash for heavens sakes, look after the children and be a good father) then I hope that you sincerely have a fairly tale ending.
How about a positive answer for once.

Yes put yourself in you wife's place what would you do if she was talking to someone on the net and it will only confuse you talking to some other woman because she is only going to say what you want to hear because she thinks she is in with a chance and if you haven't met her in person she probably isn't who you think she will be, and the grass is never greener on the other side your just set the situation for a lot of heart ache, good luck with your decisions hope it works out in a good way which ever way you go,separation is aways painful for everyone.

Pardon? "in a marriage about to end" - that suggests it has already ended. What you are referring to is 'loyalty or disloyalty' towards a legal spouse and is not technically adultery. Marriage is a legal contract between two people who promise to be loyal to each other forsaking all others etc etc. However, disloyalty in itself is not grounds for a divorce.

WELL TO BE HONEST, IT DEFANTLY SOUNDS LIKE A FORM OF ADULTERY, BECAUSE IF YOU WERE JUST FRIENDS, YOU WOULDNT BE ASKING THIS QUESTION? AND ITS BECAUSE YOU ARE INVOLVED EMOTIONALLY, THAT YOU ASK THIS QUESTION...... YOUR STILL MARRIED! EVEN THOUGH YOU SAY ITS ALMOST OVER, DO BOTH YOU AND YOUR WIFE FEEL THE SAME?
PLEASE TURN THE TABLES? IF YOUR WIFE WAS GETTING INTAMATE WITH A STRANGER ON THE INTERNET, HOW WOULD YOU FEEL?
HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY, DONT MAKE A FOOL OF YOUR WIFE!!!!!!! BE HONEST! BUT REMEMBER, THIS LOVELY WOMAN ON THE INTERNET THAT YOU FELL FOR, JUST MAY BE AN OVER GROWN MIDDLE AGED MAN, FOR ALL YOU KNOW !!!
LOOK BEFORE YOU LEAP!!!

What do you mean, "almost over?" The marriage ceremony was just a legal expression of your mental decision to become married. When you are no longer married in your heart, then you should get that divorce acknowledged by law too. Having a marriange that is "almost over" is like being "almost pregnant."

well...on-line relationship has evolved big time. if you are about to end your first marriage, might has well just wait till its over. is it adultery? other people might say it requires physical contact; i would say it is enough that you have a mental attachment to someone besides your legal spouse. therefore, yes i will say adultery. end your first one, then pursue the on line one. she should understand.

By 'involved', I assume that you mean having intercourse with, therefore, yes, it is adultery. Should your relationship with her lead to marriage, chances are that she too will be adulterous given that she thinks nothing of dating a married man.
