i would say because they are insecure about themselves, or they simply fear what they arent used to, or something/someone different, and translating that into hate.

I don't think people like things that are different. I think things that are different scare some people. I personally don't see why people can't believe in what they want/choose. You have a right to your own personal opinion and everyone has that right...that's not different.

I agree with first answerer, they are usually insecure about themselves so they project it onto others. I think, as long as no-one is getting hurt, then people can believe in or be whoever they are.

When we find ourselves judging others and hating groups of persons of different types it usually through complete ignorance, fears and insecurities and negative life experiences and often upbringing.
