I can do better than that.

I spent a day making this some months ago, and have been revising it since. That doesn't tell you what they own NOW, though...
Ford owns:
Volvo (cars, not semis, that's separate and independent) - looking to sell?
Land Rover - looking to sell?
Jaguar - looking to sell?
1/3 of Mazda (they share a few engines, and a few platforms, most notably the Ford Ranger/Mazda B-series and Ford Fusion/Mazda 6, plus the Mazda 3 is shared with Volvo and the Euro Focus.)
Until recently they owned Aston Martin.
Their other marques in the US are Lincoln and Mercury.
GM (not GMC...GMC is a marque of General Motors) owns:
Daewoo
Saab
A substantial chunk of Suzuki (note that all Daewoos until 1998 were based on Suzuki models, that all Suzukis in the US right now save the XL7 and SX4 are actually Daewoos, and that Daewoos were imported as early as the 1980s as the Pontiac LeMans.)
until recently, a substantial chunk of Subaru (thus the Saab 9-2X, a restyled Impreza)
Opel/Vauxhall (Europe/UK)
Holden (Australia)
Their US marques are: GMC, Chevrolet, Saturn, Pontiac, Buick, Cadillac, and Hummer. Oldsmobile was shut down a couple years ago.
Chrysler was recently sold by Daimler, and owns approximately nothing apart from it's three surviving consumer marques (Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge...Plymouth is gone), and GEM (street legal electric golf carts). (edit: NOT Freightliner, that stayed with Daimler, from what I can tell.)
Their technology sharing, manufacturing joint ventures, and other arrangements, however, are far, FAR more extensive.

Hi Blacksun. How long have you got? With a few notable exceptions, build quality has not kept pace with the technology that can ensure good results. Witness the number of recalls, not for minor problems but major safety issues like brakes, steering and so on. Maybe it's pressure to maximise output, reduce cost or whatever. If I had to pick just one manufacturer for the worst car award, I'd say Renault. Took a test drive in one recently & couldn't find a thing to say in its favour.
