since gays can't legally marry in the US, do you still value marriage or have you found other ways to validate your relationship? do you think that a recognized marriage is the "brass ring"?

i'm a sociology student conducting an anonymous survey on marriage and sex. if you want to participate, check out http://geocities.com/sbiv37/

btw, i am pro gay marriage, i think it is wrong to deny rights to any law-abiding citizen. it is legalized discrimination and that is and always will be wrong. just wondering if the gay community cares about the documentation of a marriage license or if they have found satisfaction without it.

I'm gay and I do not approve of gay marriage. I do think that gays should have the same rights, but I do not approve of the title. I would rather have a civil union.

I am gay, but I am also a Catholic Christian. I was that before I knew I was gay and it shaped very much my values. I don't think there's anything wrong with a homosexual couple, I just don't approve of its name. I believe a marriage is between a man and a woman.

I wouldn't oppose it if it were passed, but if I had to vote on it, I would vote against it because of the name.

I'm gay and I don't think anyone should be able to marry until everyone is able to marry.

I do not celebrate or participate in marriages of my straight friends.

I've actually been told by straight people that they think that legalization of gay marriage would ruin the sanctity of marriage, and when I ask them if they think their relationship is more "valid" than mine, they always say no. The next question I have is, "So why do you think a marriage for me would ruin the sanctity of marriage, if my relationship is equal to a straight relationship?"
There is never an answer for that.

Gay Marriage will be good for me and society as a whole. Equality for all has proved to be a good thing, not a bad thing.

I'm confident that, when gay marriage is tried in a state or two, it will prove successful. _Good_ for marriage: a step toward re-establishing marriage's preeminent role in American society. And so other states will adopt it.

And gay people will get not just legal marriage but social marriage as well. Which is like getting a bicycle instead of a unicycle

It a few months, 10 states + D.C. will allow it. We are making progress. Sure, it may not happen in my life, but I'm going to die knowing I tried to make a difference in this world, and I will die thinking one day it won't matter where you live but you will have the right to marry who you want in the U.S.

My opinion -> If one state allows it, they all should. Because people will just move to MA for the right.. so the other state's are not preventing gay marriage by banning it.

there is no 'gay stance' on anything. I'm pro gay marriage (i think the disagreement is more a misunderstanding about the term marriage than anything else...) and my partner is not... it varies from person to person....

by saying we can't get married is basically saying were not good enough. were never gonna be good enough and theres something wrong with us. so yes i value marriage, its one of the most heated topics right now in the election process so its been interseting to watch the debates.
