Ok so i received a college application from Princeton University, but I never requested their application so i was wondering how they got my address? My guidance counselor didn't even know that I want to go there, so they couldn't have given them my address. I was just wonder how they got my address, because it was 1 of my college choices. please help me if you can.
Thank You

There are lots of mailing lists of high school students available; colleges identify categories of students they are interested in seeing apply and send them all sorts of things. These are given out by both your high school and the College Board, when you take the SAT. The good news is that since generally schools segment the market by GPA and/or SAT scores among other things, you seem to have the basic characteristics that, depending upon who else applies, would make you a good candidate for Princeton.

If you have taken the SAT or ACT already and checked off interest in Princeton, they could have gotten your information that way. It is also possible that your scores and information were such that it was sent to Princeton as a possible match for their criteria.

I wouldn't worry about how they got your name. I'd focus on filling it out and sending it back, if that's where you want to attend.

I don't know...maybe it was fate :)

Have you ever filled out any information anywhere about your college choices? If you did, maybe that's how Princeton got your address.

Some times schools get your information from the test you take, ie S.A.T.'s or A.C.T.'s. there is box you can mark on there that gives them the OK to release your information to schools. and if the schools like your grades and test scores they might send out apps in the mail. maybe that is what happen.

Some students get unsolicited applications if they happen to be good athletes. Do you participate in any sports and are you any good at it?
