23! Wait til you're knocking 40, you won't believe how much you miss being 23. All stages in life have some great bits and some shite bits. Live in the present, you have to make it as good as possible, thats what kids do. Its nice to enjoy memories but if you use them to make yourself miserable you're going to ruin the present which'll bollocks up your future good memories of your 20s. Best decade of my life, and the worst.

Yes as kids we just played and laughed and nothing really mattered, we had no real responsibility..someone to look over us always, making us feel safe and was able to get cuddles as much as we needed. As we get older things start to get complicated. We become more involved with getting our career on the go, working a hard job to make that extra cash so we can live, pay the bills and the list goes on. Not to mention complicated relationships that we have got our selfs into some point in our lifes..... if not still in a mess. But look at this way Life is Full of suprises just as we were as we are young, back then we had our downs as well and our happy times. If you rember the happy times as young why dont you look at the happy times that you have now too. Love your life as you still have a LONG TIME to live. This is just the beginning. Dont forget to smile, run around and let your hair down. Do fun things, go out with your friends and laugh at your self when you do silly things. As long as you go out and behave like a child once in a while you will still feel alive. Dont be afraid to let go and lossen up, who cares what everyone else thinks

Growing up is scary eh?! I used to be the same when I was your age I used to look back all the time and looked at the past with rose tinted glasses. You're making the final transition of pulling away from your parents organising your life to being your own person and having to deal with the consequences of your own decisions. There comes a time when you really have to move on and constantly thinking about the past becomes unhealthy. Stop moping and start making plans to make the future exciting! Trust me you'll soon be too busy to think about the past then!

i think maybe its because you are at that funny stage of life where childhood is gone, adulthood is sort-of here, maturity and getting older is scary. I remember going through a similar phase at your age (and no, i am not ANCIENT!), where i just wanted to go back to my happy, safe, childhood. The thought of being an adult, fully responsible for my life and its decisions was absolutely scary, but we do all survive it and learn to cope with life in a totally different way. AND i still talk to my mum about the best of my childhood years and my memories of it.

Yes, I miss being a child. I miss being innocent, not even seeing the complexities of life. I miss having my basic needs just met, with no thought of how or who. I miss just taking it all for granted. Being a grown-up has lots of responsibilities. Life isn't easy or simple.
Yes, you do get to relive it somewhat thru your children, but it's even more fun to relive it thru your grandchildren! (It's more socially acceptable for a grandparent to act goofy with the kids. We can just blame it on a "senior moment!")

Yes, I miss my childhood. More so than that, I miss my mother. She recently passed on and so that makes every memory I have pretty much a tear filled moment.

Getting old does hurt. And having had a good childhood doesn't make it any easier.
But you have to realise that no-one ever goes back, we just keep those special times in our hearts and remember them fondly. And use those special times to help guide us now.
