What material is the carpet made of?
If it is natural like wool or cotton and you use soda, bleach or even more aggressive cleaners, you have good chance that wine-color does not go away, not even with any other product later used, and everywhere these cleaners touched the carpet, the original color of the carpet gets clearer, making ´highlights´ in your home.
Normally good results are possible with milk - just press a sponge filled with milk all over the area, and then wash it with hair-shampoo. Maybe it is necessary to repeat that, specially if it was lot of wine ¨drunken¨ by your carpet. (Hick"!)
Good luck.

Like dissolves like. try alcohol or OFF in a can. I have spilled wine on the counter in a kitchen and used sponge and soap to try to remove it without luck. Goof off can be good because it has alcohol in it. Oh and Peroxide might work because the the peroxide reacts vehemently with iron especially if its the highly concentrated stuff.

Pour table salt on it, and lots of it! The salt will absorbe the wine and draw up out of the carpet. Eventually run your vacuum over the salt. This has worked for me on several occasions the key however is reacting quickly!

Mix Dawn dishwashing liquid soap with hydrogen peroxide...then pour on the stain and let sit as a presoak. Neither of these ingredients works by itself. You must use BOTH. You'll actually see the red wine disappear as you drizzle the mixture on a stain!
