Because that's not the name of our party - it's the Democratic Party (notice the "ic"). Here's a quick grammar lesson: "Democrat" is the noun; "Democratic" is the adjective. While we say that William Jefferson Clinton is a Democrat, he's not a "Democrat President" but a "Democratic President."

Because it's not the proper name of the party, and because saying Democrat instead of Democratic obscures the meaning of the word: that the people shall determine the direction of their government by voting.

Because it's not the democrat party. It's the democratic party as in "more Americans belong to the democratic party than belong to the republic (sorry republican) party".

Because the grammatically correct wording is the "Democratic Party" I personally do not care it makes the one saying it look ignorant thus making anything he says less credible.

Do you have proof of this? When have I or any other Democrat for that matter ever gotten mad when someone said "Democrat Party?"

The proper name is the Democratic Party.
They generally don't care the "ic" is left off...
they do not like being referred to as Socialist or Communist, but do not mind being called Progressives.
Socialist = Progressives... I don't get it...

The problem with the Democratic party is that they have no answers to the problems that face our country. They can only point out the problem and complain. So, when some one says "democrat party", they complain because they have become accustomed to complaining.
