I accidentally broke my gloxinia right above the root. Can i use water to root it?

Yes, the best way is to mix equal parts vermiculite and perlite, moisten it, and plant the leaves. The leaves can be cut across the width of the blade to a length of about 2 inches above the leaf stem. Trim the leaf stem to about 1". The main stem or crown can also be rooted after the lower leaves have been removed. Don't throw away the pot the origional plant is growing in, the tuber will sprout new growth if kept evenly moist.

These are one of the weirdo's.....you can root the leaf too! Lay it on the soil, slit the veins and make certain the cut end is against the soil. With warmth and humidity roots will develop. Otherwise, yes, the stems root readily, better in soil than water though.
