the best "authentic" Christmas is one filled with your own personal family traditions. Talk to your friends and family that you will be spending Christmas with and ask them each to tell you about one thing they really enjoy(ed)/remember about Christmas...egg nog, caroling, maybe just some old family tradition...then, integrate all that into your Christmas. Combining old traditions to get new traditions makes everyone remember how great Christmas is and keeps old traditions alive.

The most authentic christmas would be one where our house is covered outside with lights, garland and our yard with reindeer and a nativity set. Then inside a fireplace with wood by it and stockings hung up and a tree sparkiling nearby. There would be food and desserts baking and christmas music playing and everyone would drink hot cocoa. The whole house would be warm and toasty and outside there would be snow. that would be the best christmas to me! as for what we would do though here it is, its kinda our tradition-
christmas eve- morning- everyone makes sure we have that last minute gift, enough bows, ribbons, and wrapping paper to finish it up and we start the cooking!
afternoon- finish up whatever we were doing earlier, watch christmas movie, and get ready for mass. go to mass.
night- start sugar cookies, eat a relaxing dinner with my grandma, finish up sugar cookies and prepare everything for Santa, watch christmas movie (this one about the real christmas) while everyone is awake we talk about how Jesus is the real reason for Christmas and retell the whole story then put the baby Jesus in the manger! while we are doing this we drink hot cocoa and have christmas songs play (usually they are playing all day) and a fire going. it is one of my favorite parts of christmas! then the babies and nathan are in bed by 9:30 or earlier. parents and kinda me finish things up by 10-12 (i'm usually in bed by 10, i help them wrap some things)
christmas day- morning- sometimes i come down 5 or 6ish and start the coffe and make the pancake mix, and set out the strudel (i make sure i don't peek at the christmas tree or anything) then i go back to bed for 1 hour and by then everyone's getting our parents out of bed. then we go down stairs and open stockings then presents and we drink hot cocoa by the fire and eventually eat breakfast at about lunch time, call cousins and friends.
afternoon/night-we're usually playing with are new stuff parents are finishing up the cooking and i help make about a million deserts aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents come in midday. Then we have dinner with everyone(and this year we're gonna try to have a table that fits all 20 of us). Later we open presents and sit by the fire and roast marshmellows and some people watch a christmas movie and we talk about the day and have desert. that's are whole two days basically!

Authentic Christmas ?
Go to Church for midnight mass ,don`t buy rediculously expensive gifts for kids (who don`t really need £300.00 game systems or stupidly named TV character dolls anyway) ,have Goose ,Figgy Pudding and Stilton with your Christmas Cake and above all don`t get sucked into the commercialism !

Ha Ha, really cannot believe that I have asked and now answering a question about Christmas and its only August!... anyway. My mum and my aunt are real Christmas fanatics, they really like the whole family round with a nice looking tree and decorations that arnt "over-done", just the right amount to make it look "cosy", everyone feeling relaxed and happy and content with what they have and what they are getting, the feeling that even though Father Christmas isn't real, the fact that the kids and you wanting to belive that he is, is just magical itself, helping with the kids wrap gifts with tonnes and tonnes of ribbond and paper flying everyhwere whilst playing music and numerous films that are on DVD and T.V the house warm with snow oustide (like thats going to happen), the Coca Cola adverts ha ha; make Christmas, Christmaseeey.
But to your question, what does make it "Christmaseeey"? I think it's your family and the lot of them around you; spending time etc. No arguments over the dinner and stuff like that, over indulging and not caring. The kids helping you cook and you helping them making their lists. Really everything I said above?

A white elephante gift exchange or ornament exchange, you invite a bunch of people over for aparty and you tell them to bring either a wrapped goody or you can do ornaments (wrapped) with a value of 5.00 or less and then everyone picks a number #1 goes and picks 1 gift or wrapped ornament of their choice and then opens it #2 can either "steal" #1's goody or they can pick a new one this goes on until everyone has picked something! it is a great way to interact with everyone at the party and it is always fun to get fun and crazy things, ornaments are always great cause it is something you can cherish forever. We do it every year and all our party guest just LOVE IT!

I asked myself the same thing and did a lot of digging around until I finally discovered that to make it really authentic I should stop calling it christmas and deal with it the way people used to before it was hijacked by christianity.
Yuletime is so much more meaningful for me, now.

our family always goes to the evening service at church then we come home and have snacks. all of us gather near the tree and fireplace while one of us reads the night before Christmas.after wards we have a small cake and sing Happy Birthday to Jesus and open up a Christmas ornament {which was got for his birthday gift} and place it on the tree. the kids then go to bed with dreams of Santa's arrival
we decorate our home inside and out with lights ,holly, garland,.Santa's, reindeer, sleighs, ect. and a large Nativity scene with the Shepard's, wise men, camels, animals, angles, and the little drummer boy. we even have a moose choir.
alot of this is made from wood patterns. there is all kinds of Christmas decorations out there. just let your imagination run wild and have fun. MERRY CHRISTMAS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There were so many woodworking plans with this collection and you will not believe this but there are over thousands plans in the one package deal. Go here https://tr.im/hStSd
This is really something to find that many all together. For someone like me who is just really starting to get involved with woodworking this was like letting me loose in a candy store and telling me I could have anything I wanted. That was my dream when I was a kid.
