Take a notebook and a pen. Don't buy books until you hear the teacher say they use them. Some teachers don't use the textbook much.

You'll probably only need to bring a folder, notebook and something to write with, in case the professor does any lecturing tomorrow (some professors lecture the first day, some don't). The professors will be going over the syllabus for the class and possibly telling the class a little bit about themselves. Be prepared to do some kind of activity where you introduce yourself and talk a little bit about yourself (this will not happen in lecture classes...lectures are too big. Introducing yourself is more common in smaller classes. You will probably not need to bring textbooks tomorrow...most professors will not expect you to have them yet. In fact, it's a good idea to wait until after you've attended the class so you know exactly which books you need to buy and if there is anything else you need to get for class (workbooks, supplemental stuff, etc). If you bring a cell phone, put the ringer on silent or turn it off all together...there's nothing more obnoxious than someone's cell phone ringing in the middle of lecture. Some professors will ignore a ringing cell phone, joke about it, or get mad about it and call you out in front of everybody. Save yourself the embarrassment and just keep the phone off. Be sure you bring your class schedule with you so you know what room number to go to...that way you can make sure you're in the right class :) I walked into the wrong class (it was a small class) once in college and I was so embarrassed because then I had to get up and leave to go to the right class after I realized I wasn't where I needed to be :)

This is everything I can think of...just try to relax and not worry too much. The first few days of every semester are always hectic and it seems more hectic as a freshman because you're not used to it yet. It does get better! I had a lot of fun in college. Have a good freshman year!

All you really need is a pen and a notebook. Mostly you'll probably just discuss syllabi. Some professors will start lecturing, so you'll want to be prepared to take notes. Don't bother taking textbooks. For a lot of classes you won't ever need your book during class. You'll mostly need it to read outside of class. Of the professors who do use the textbook in class, I don't know of any that would expect everyone to have it on the first day. That day, they'll tell you whether or not they expect you to bring it to class. If your a freshman and have large classes, don't worry too much; you'll just blend in and whatever you have or don't have will go unnoticed.

Anyway, all I've ever really needed was a pen and some paper. That's it. Good luck!

A folder and a writing utensil. The first day of class is always spent going over the syllabus. Sometimes they'll lecture a bit, but it's never anything important. You may need to jot down a couple things that aren't on the syllabus, like an extra phone number to reach the professor, or other stuff they forgot to put on there.

I would bring a notebook and a pen or pencil to take notes with. If you are taking math-type classes, you might want to have a calculator there. If you had to buy workbooks for your classes, or if your textbooks seem to have problems in them to be worked out, bring those. It is likely that the first day will be mostly administrative stuff - going over the syllabus, calling roll, straightening out conflicts, answering questions. Don't expect anything too major at the outset.

I would bring a binder with a folder for each class that you have, a three hole punch and lots of pens, pencils and paper. That first day you will learn everything that you will need, or at least be able to figure it out.. You are going to be getting a lot of very important papers most of which you will only get once. Syllabus that will be your favorite word. This is your time line to each class, will show you when papers, exams and such are. DO NOT LOSE THEM. Most professors give them out once and only once.

If you have textbooks bring them, you could have assignments right off the bat so you will need your texts.

Pencil, paper, folder and backpack.. I wouldn't buy the text books until going to class first. You might decide to switch classes or the professor might change their mind about the books you need.
