I am thinking about doing Respiratory therapy. I like the idea of helping people. I just dont want to be stuck in a career that requires that I be worked to death or that is boring. of course it I loved it I wouldnt mind staying for 12 hours a day. my problemn is that I seem to have low motivation. adhd doesnt help matters much.

No, anyone can go to college. You can start with community college if you want, or you can apply by Jan for next fall (2008).

Go to college, you'll love it.
I did when I went back at 26. You are older and wiser and ready for the challenge. You'll get a lot more out of it. Your mind doesn't know how old you are; it always wants more.
Think of everything you've done thus far as preparation for college.
Go to a small school in a rural area. Teacher student ration of 1:16. Take any class that interests you, even if it is not required for your degree. Take a risk. Trust me. You can do it. Good luck!

Re-entry students are becoming more common all the time. My kid was one. Found others there quite a bit older, too! So if you want to go to college, any time is the right time...
Maybe you could start with just one or two classes at night at a junior college (more likely to meet people your age)... or, if you feel ready, jump right in there with the youngsters! You have a lot more "life experience," which counts for much, and you'll find new, interesting aquaintances where you least expect them. (But study first, right?)

Not at all. I've spoken with several people lately who said that the average age of the incoming freshmen at their schools was 27 or 28. You bring some life experience to the classroom, and probably will appreciate the opportunity more than the traditional freshman. Go for it!

Its never too late to go to college. I've had 40 and 50 year olds in my classes. Just think of it this way. By the time you are 31 you could have a bachelors degree- and a good job....OR you could be a 31 year old that regrets never going to college.

I didn't start college until I was 38. It is remarkable how much better life is, both personally and professionally when you have a degree. Community colleges are a great place to start. They are inexpensive and a two year degree is the perfect stepping stone to demonstrate to yourself the commitment it takes. Get it done, it's not too late!

Its never to late to go back to college. My husbands grandmother went back to school at 50. And got her nursing degree. I waited 5 1/2 years and am now back in school.

Last May a 95 year old woman graduated from college. You aren't too old.
PS She was smart - she didn't go to the Univ of Phoenix!
