I'm planning to start renting an apartment in Massachusetts in the next couple of months. I am a first time renter and I was wondering what the additional costs would be above the cost of rent. Costs such as electricity, gas, water, cable, apartment/condo fees, etc.

If anyone is renting and could give me a breakdown of their costs, or even just let me know what additional costs I can expect, that would be great. Thank you.

I plan on renting a 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom apartment if that helps.

Well I live in Texas, so I am not sure how much my numbers would be accurate to compare. But here is our approximate monthly expenses for a 2 bed 2 bath apartment:

Electric: $250 (everything is electric, no gas)
Water/Trash: $45
Cable and Internet combined: $100
Phone: $40
Pet rent: $15

I think you can safely bet on around $300-$400 on top of rent each month for other utility expenses, but of course you must remember that I live in Texas and our air conditioner runs a LOT, lol. Hope that helped a bit...

Move in is usually the expensive part ,
1st month , last month and security deposit .
PLUS the deposits at each of the utility places .

After that it is just the rent , utilities and luxuries like cable !

FYI - look for an apartment that includes utilities if possible . Gas in the winter will be EXPENSIVE otherwise !

SW- out of your different query, I realize that you want a offered rental for a a million month best condo. The charges that different individuals are providing you with might be extra alongside the traces of what you might pay for an unfurnished situation for a a million yr condo. I might count on to pay among $900 and $1200 for what I feel you want.
