Why is racism so prevalent in America today?

I've heard many Americans claim that this is the greatest country on earth, well if it's so great why are some of our citizens doing stupid things based off the color of someone's skin?

There are racists in every country sadly. The thing is, America is placed on a pedestal, so the same levels of bias here are interpreted much more strongly than if the same were in another country. Don't get me wrong, I am not condoning the behavior but it has to at least be said that not all americans are this way..... the good ones just don't wind up in the news quite so often.

Slowly racial lines will disapear and we won't even be talking about such sad things anymore.

There's racism all over the world, honey. Not just white on black but black on white, white on hispanic, hispanic on asian, black on asian, asian on black, etc... The people in our country that are always crying about racism are those that profit from it. Jessie Jackson, Al Sharpton to name a couple. They must keep this perception out there in order to maintain their lifestyle. Besides, racism is natural. Everybody thinks they are better than somebody that looks a little different. Why do you think most people choose to marry people within their own race. Are they racist? NO. People are typically and physiologically attracted to those they look like. Although we have racially motivated hate groups the majority will not allow them to come to power, and make life miserable for others.
