No, I don't think so. The criminal justice system is messed up in a lot of ways: Overcrowded prisons, plea bargains galore, the war on drugs, etc.
All of them are problems that are intertwined with eachother. If we didn't have the war on drugs, the prisons wouldn't be overcrowded, and if the prisons weren't overcrowded, then police & prosecutors would have more resources to get a conviction without resorting to plea deals, which could very well lead to the wrong person being imprisoned, allowing for more crime by the actual criminal.
Those who aren't innocent are capable of changing their behaviour, and living normal lives, but I believe the best chance of that is if they have some semblence of normalcy -- which includes having the rights of an American citizen once you've served your time (no longer on parole, probation, etc.)

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "too many rights". Are you talking about people who have completed their prison sentences and are now trying to become a productive, responsibile member of society? Or are you talking about convicted criminals who are still leading the life of crime?
I'm a recovering addict/alcoholic with 15 years clean and sober. I've done almost 3 years in prison. I have a job with a successful law firm, I get up and go to work every day. I pay my bills and my taxes. I have a car and a house that I make payments on every month. I vote. I serve on jury duty when asked to. My son goes to private school. Which of these "rights" do you think I'm not entitled to?

it quite is a very debatable subject. i could say they have the superb to straight forward human desires which includes clean water, nutrients, warmth and gentle-weight. in addition they have the superb to a pair psychological stimulation which includes books. even even with the shown fact that, i do no longer think of they have the superb to the luxuries they get in penal complex in recent times which includes get entry to to getting to know (taking a diploma case in point), some thing i'm going to could desire to pay £3000 a 12 months in direction of for my daughter. they have get entry to to a completely equipped fitness center, entertainment interior the form of television of their room (i could call it a cellular even even with the shown fact that it is not that straight forward). they have companionship and unfastened nutrients and safeguard. they don't have their liberty yet how many damaging human beings could like the possibility to "provide up" their staggering to damp housing (if housed in any respect), no longer understanding the place their next meal is coming from, a heat mattress, television, and so on. and all they could desire to do is pass to penal complex. definite, the convicted criminals do deserve straight forward human rights (greater then they afforded their victims!), yet i do no longer have faith that they could desire to have further rights or luxuries. they have committed a criminal offense and that they are being punished, no longer taken care of to a 10 12 months trip!

Some of them definitely do. Then you have the population of 'criminals' that have been falsely accused and wrongfully jailed. So I guess for me it's a tough question to answer. But by and large, my answer would probably be yes.

No. Their rights stop when the door closes behind them in the prison. The only right they now have is to be sad, lonely and completely helpless. Talk about inhumane treatment..... I wonder where the justice really is.

Yes. Our Government is so worried with liability, they consider the rights of a defendant before the rights of his victim.
