It is also known as the common wasp, or the Vespula vulgaris.

There are a bunch of different kinds of Yellowjacket. Here on the east coast of the US, I just automatically call them all Vespula germanica, figuring I've got a sporting chance of being right. Your choices will likely vary, though, depending on where you are. Try an insect taxonomy website or museum website for your area.
