I'm sure it is too late. You should start writing your essays as soon as possible so you dont stress over it and have time to research and revise

It will be too late if you apply in the middle of your senior year. However, you mentioned that you are still a junior so you will be fine...unless thats when you plan on applying for college, the middle of senior year. You can still apply for college, at the appropriate times after you graduate from high school however.

most regular decision deadlines are around january first. Why not write your essays over the summer in between your junior and senior year? And its not like you ahve to write a lot, only two essays for the common application.

Believe it or not, it's possible to apply to early. Most schools won't let you apply more than a year before you plan to go. Check the application deadlines for the schools you want to go to for the semester you want to start, and go by that.

Depending on the school you are applying to, that could be bad. Especially if they operate on a rolling admission basis. It's best not to procrastinate on issues such as these.
