Here is what you actually need. Slower RAM is not that bad...

WINDOWS 95 32 MB
WINDOWS 98 64 KB
WINDOWS ME 124 KB
WINDOWS XP 512 MB
WINDOWS VISTA 1024 MB

USE THE FOLLOWING TABLE FOR TURBO CHARGED PERFORMANCE.

WINDOWS 98 124 KB
WINDOWS ME/2000 512 MB
WINDOWS XP 1GB
WINDOWS VISTA 2GB

There is bytes, mega-bytes (million), and giga-bytes. So 512 mb is 512,000,000 bytes. 1 gb is 1,000,000,000. So the 1 gb is more RAM. The RAM isn't a speed - it's a temporary storage place. Your controller is what determines the speed that your video card "talks" to your monitor and mouse or joystick.

1gig will always be faster than 512mb. 1gb of higher clock speed ram will be faster than 1gb of lower speed.
