my baby book says 6 weeks, is that right or can you put a baby in a swing sooner than that? My baby is just a few days over a month old.

My son was a preemie (Almost 3 months early). He came home from the hospital 1 week before his due date and I put him in his swing at 1 week corrected age. His seat reclined and I used the little head supports like for the car seats. He actually slept in his a couple of times when he was really fussy, and that was way before 6 weeks corrected age.

I think it depends on how the seat is set. I put babies in the swing way before 6 weeks. You just have to make sure the support is there.

mine sits back so i plan on putting him in there as soon as i need to. i will probably start using it a few days after he gets home. but i'm going to put a head support in there too. we had a foster baby and we got him a swing when he was about 3 weeks old and used it right away.

If the seat in the swing reclines then you can put the baby in there whenever you want. If you have something to prop the head up thats good to. I put my baby in hers at like 2 weeks old.

I put my newborn daughter in her swing a day or 2 after bringing her home from the hospital. I did recline it as far as it would go and put the head rest thing from her carseat in it to keep her head from flopping around.

My son hated the swing, but now he is 4 months and he sits in it for 5 min or so. He can't fall alseep in it cause the motion, he likes to stay still. I think it is ok to do it when your baby likes it.

I've been putting my newborn little girl in her swing since shortly after I brought her home. It does recline, plus it also came with an extra headrest piece for smaller babies like the carseats have. she is perfectly fine in it and she's been sleeping in it too.
