I don't know if it's like the one in Britain, but the USA does have a "Freedom of Information" act. I'll get a link....

They do but there are quite a number of ways written into it to avoid giving information.

If it involves a foreign government for example - share a little correspondence with them or base your research into bio weapons in another country and it is all protected.

So not a lot of difference with the UK act then!!!

Yes, the Federal government has a FOIA and each state has a version for state records and information.
