Why do Native Americans call the Creator, "Grandfather"?

Gee'sis (the Sun) is Grandfather.

"Since everything in the world was created before Original Man many things are referred to as "Grandfather."

Calling someone Grandfather is a show of respect. With age comes wisdom. The older one is, the wiser they would be. So, Grandfather, usually being the oldest member of the family, would be considered the smartest.

Not only this, but they believe that they are children of the Creator. So, along with being respectful, it would also be the reasonable thing to call the Creator.

They don't. Most Native Americans call the Sun, Grandfather.
They also call the Moon, Grandmother, the Earth, Mother and the Sky, Father. It is a means of showing balance and respect.

Well Christians call if Father, so not much different, so why do they call it that?

What I know of just the one particular culture I know a little about, they call here Grandmother Earth, so it only makes sense the above would be called Grandfather. (Granted, other Nations may call if different [translated] things other then Grandfather.)

Please don't lump. Native American's religious beliefs are as different as many other nations of the world's nations are different.

I've looked through many of my books and have yet to find a "Grandfather or a Gee'sis."
