Not really.

When you have a creep like the man who murdered little Jessica Lunsford there is nothing you can do that will equal his crime. We can't rape him and bury him alive. It might be just, but it would in no way elevate our society. It would lower us to his level.

But we can send him to the execution chamber, and I have no problem with that.

Punishment should be just and fair and should better society. Certainly capital punishment is appropriate in some cases, but there are other punishments that probably accomplish at least as much that should be used in place of executions.

Strictly speaking, "an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth" is outdated.

Yes, I am getting there. A convicted rapist who killed a 9 year old by putting her in garbage bags and burying her alive after raping her was just given the death penalty in my state. Lethal injection is too nice for some animal like that. Put him in garbage bags and bury him alive after raping him. That should be his death sentence.

Sometimes, I think it's the appropriate solution. Like, in little situations. Like 50 dollars. If someone stole 50 dollars from you, I think it's fair for you to get 50 dollars back from them. But if someone killed your father, I don't think it's right for their father to be killed.
