Is there a way to figure out what they think is the average daily drunk driving rate?

Or more specifically the daily or weekly rate for LA?

I'm doing a report and i'm trying to figure out the estimated daily amount of drunk drivers caught and what the predict of what percentage of drunk drivers that don't get caught.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, percentages ARE about 10% on weekend nights.

NHTSA also estimates that for every DUI arrest, as many as 2,000 go undetected.

I seem to recall (although I can't cite the source) that at any given time, about 10 percent of the drivers on the road are impaired due to intoxicants, whether its alcohol, narcotics, or other medications or chemcials. On that basis, I'd say for an average car trip, there's probably a greater than 99.9 % chance that an impaired driver won't get stopped.

That is why the recidivism rate on DUI is so high...the offenders understand the odds and take the chance.

If you go to MADD's website you will get so many distorted facts that your report will be so slanted as to be considered false reporting.
Pick a local tavern in your area and hang out for awhile, take notes. Just remember; anytime you estimate numbers it's false information, therefore your report is false. Get the facts. You might find that not all people that walk into a tavern walk out drunk.
Try reporting that to MADD.
