5/(y-2) + 2/(y+2)
Get a common denominator.
= 5(y+2) / [(y-2)(y+2)] + 2(y-2) / [(y-2)(y+2)]
= (5y +10 +2y -4) / [(y-2)(y+2)]
= (7y +6) / [(y-2)(y+2)]

Remember your addition of fraction, first find a common denominator.

= [5(y+2)/(y-2)(y+2)] + [2(y-2)/(y+2)(y-2)]

= (5y + 10 + 2y - 4)/((y+2)(y-2))

=(7y + 6)/((y+2)(y-2))
