I am buying a house on a 0.25acre lot and I have sprinklers in the front and back. I dont wanna buy an air compressor too small so Id rather someone be wrong high than low. Also if you could explain the process of doing it you would get a best answer right away!!!!

The pros in the irrigation business use compressors that are towed behind their trucks and put out 125 to 175 cubic feet of compressed air per minute at 90 pounds per square inch constantly. You don't need 200 psi but you do need air volume to move the water out of low spots.

Homeowner compressors sold at the bigbox stores put out anywhere from 4 cfm to 15cfm. If ANYTHING anywhere close to one of those compressors would clear out irrigation lines effectively, then the pros would just buy one instead of renting one of the biggies each season. But..... as the saying goes, it's your system and your dime. Buy one of the small units and then see how much damage you have to your system next spring. You'll have your answer at that point.
