Yes, I washed mine the other day (pink) and it's fine. No bleeding or rips. Also, I let it air-dry, instead of putting it in the dryer.

I fill the sink with water and Woolite and let my Jansport backpack soak for about an hour. I then lightly scrub the stains with a scrub brush. I rinse it inside and out with cool water until all soap bubbles are gone, then I hang it upside down in the garage and let it dry.

the fabric is machine washable the straps and buckles are rough on a machine. I would hand wash a expensive one but a cheap one i would try the machine
