I am clueless because I don't know what to get my son this Christmas besides clothing. Any ideas as to what I could get my 11 yr old for Christmas?

You can plan an awesome Christmas display. No, it does not have to be computer controlled, but having you out there with him will create the Christmas memory of a lifetime.

It will beat whatever toy, or set of clothes you buy for him.

ok, so a good way to teach kids about helping others at Christmas and to find out what he wants...find a charity like Toys for Tots. Take your son to the store and tell him that there is an 11 year old boy out there who is just like him, but doesn't have a mommy or daddy to get him a Christmas present so he's got to help you by picking out a toy for the kid. Have him go pick out something that he would really, really want...buy it and donate it...have him go with you to donate it so he sees you actually make the donation, otherwise he might just think you were lying about that when he gets one of the toy also...lol. Then go back the next day and get one for him. It will teach him to think of others and he will get something he wants.

What I did was take my kid out window shopping and discuss how neat things were to her, keeping mental notes of her likes.

Than she got clothing she liked and one fun thing.

Plus...

Kids are given way to much things and not enough of us. So I would also make a booklet of 52 us things. It would have things like a trip to the movies, a night bowling, a picnic in the park, a day fishing, preparing a favorite meal together or just baking cookies together, doing a craft project together, going to a zoo together (We don't have that one here.). All things that can be done together that will be fun and build a lasting memory.

These are the things the kids can look back on years later, smile and say that was the best gift I ever received.

It depends on what he likes and what you allow...I know parents who have given the first pocket knife, or B-B gun, and on the other extreme, a cooking set and book, so he will know how to cook for himself if he chooses not to get married right away.
Taking him to a toy/hobby store and find what he is interested in usually works. Tell him you need to find out what his cousin or other relative might want..Also money is a good option. Give him about $50 and make him break it up into two items he wants. Two items at the same value, or a small and large item. His choice, but teach him the value as well as a gift of money.

Clueless only for Christmas?

Clothing is not a gift for a child, you need to clothe your children anyway. That's like buying him a sandwich.
Buy him a book, a game, an educational toy.

ask him to make a list to santa then make a copy and send one of them to an address like the north pole, don't worry the post office has special people who get these not some physco! but if he doesn't believe in santa i would wait till the commercials start going crazy to see what he points out that he likes. or you could see about how he feels about the wii! it is great i own one and great exercise! talk to him about it!

i am sure ur son has the gift of music, buy him a keyboard or guitar; it is the right age to learn music and sing praises to God.
