Hopefully to contribute something positive to be remembered for, be it as an example to have made some lives better or for something more impressive like a fine work of Art or literature if one has been lucky enough to have great talent.

There are MANY ways to live a meaningful life. The biggest thing you can do is simply not be concerned about thinking about what a "meaningful" life is. For every person it's different. And you can't use what others think, do or say to find meaning in your own life. You need to discover that for yourself.
So, how do you do that?
Find out where your passion lies and use that to help yourself and help others live a better life. To find your passion, look at what you liked to do as a child of 8, 10, 12... What did you LOVE doing? What did you dream of BEING when you grew up? That's a great starting point.
Another thing you can do is start volunteering. Volunteer to teach disadvantaged youths to read, a skill, to discover their own passion.
Read to the blind and elderly.
Organize a neighborhood clean-up project in an area that desparately needs it.
Whatever interests you to help others, do it. Remember though, you cannot save the world. It does not want to be saved. You can only better yourself and by living the meaningful life that you want be an inspiration to others.
And, if you end up influencing only ONE person to better their life, then you've lived a meaningful life.
Enjoy!

As an atheist, I want to make a difference in the world. In my opinion, if I manage to have a positive impact on even one person during the course of my life, I will be content. Naturally, I do hope to influence more than one person in a good way. There are endless ways to achieve this. For example, I recently visited my great-grandfather at a nursing home, and I was deeply saddened by the fact that many people there never receive visitors, and are very lonely. In talking with several of them, when they heard that I play the violin, they all said things such as "Oh, I wish we could hear you play! It would be such a nice treat." So now I'm trying to work out a way for me to go there and play my violin for the elderly.
Hopefully I can use my talents like that in order to make the world a better place. There's no better feeling than knowing that you made someone smile. And so, if I change someone's life for the better, I'll be content.
As for my goal in life? Well, I have many goals, but in the biggest sense (and the one I'm sure you mean) I want to be a good person. My goal is to be the best person I possibly can be, make a difference in as many people's lives as possible, and hopefully when I die the world will be just a bit better than when I was born into it.

Live meaningfully. The unexamined life is not worth living. I try to contribute something to those around me every day. Life is a journey, not a destination. If one always is looking toward the end or deferring actions hoping for achievement one misses the whole point of being in the now.

Spend as much of it as I can on what I find meaningful. Beyond those I love, that means doing what I can to protect the environment and Earth's ecology which is our life support system, oppose Government and other policies which damage or fail to appropriately protect those who cannot defend themselves, improve the "livability" of the community in which I live. Across nearly 60 years I've taken part in everything from political submissions to street marches and conferences (including global on internet from its outset). And largely failed, especially on getting real action on climate change over the past 20 years. My goal in life is to enjoy everything I can, and do the best I can, and earn the affection and respect of those I love, and those I respect. And to keep going!

I found meaning for myself in my late 40s. I married the best husband anyone could ever ask for. As a result, I have been able to help other people in small ways on a daily basis. I have two great kids, three wonderful grandkids, and I am happier now than ever.
My goal in life is to continue helping others and to always remember to appreciate my blessings.

According to the ancient Vedas, which are the original how too information that came with the creation of the material world-
We are not this material body, IE; Race, color, nationality, Religion, mind, intellect, senses, job, etc. We are all eternal spirit souls, part and parcel of the Supreme Soul, also known as Krishna, Allah, Jehovah, Vishnu, etc. We never die, only this mortal body dies.
This material world is not our real home, it is called Maya (illusion) and is temporary and full of misery, only one fourth of the souls come here, and the rest are enjoying blissful eternal loving relationships with our Maker named above. Those who are intelligent, take up the process of self realization (Bhakti Yoga) which gives one real peace, happiness and reality. Then at the end of life they can return to the eternal Kingdom where there is no more birth, death, old age, or disease and be eternally happy. God left us with the information on how to utilize this material body and how to get the most out of this material world and how to exit it and get the best situation possible. After all He is the most merciful and created the place and he wouldn't leave us with now Manuel to utilize this place.
For info. Go to harekrishnatemple.com Read Bhagavad Gita- As it is by Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada asitis.com you can read it on line.

i would strongly recommend that you read the gospel according to ST John.then become willing to live your live according to spiritual principals contained in it.and make your goal to be like Jesus.tips i would advise include don't nurse or harbor grudges forgive all who have wronged you/and the people you resent, with the help of GOD.also look up the didache in early christian writings.be careful of other books there as some are fake and others contain heresies.implement the teaching of Jesus, the life isn't easy, but the rewards are out of this world
