i know how u feel, i wanted a ferret and never got one but i did get some gerbils instead. From my experience i shouldnt be talking but, i would tell your dad u are working hard in school and derseve something for your hard work. Tell him u have been researching about ferrets and you know everything there is to know. Books are a great resource too! I learned how to take care of all my pets from books with no experience at all and they are living long happy lives. Also u can prove u did research by printing some articles online. Im sure an employee at petsmart would answer any questions you might have and you also get a care sheet when you purchase any pet. Good Luck!

Ferrets often get adrenal disease (which costs over $1,000 to fix) and are likely to only live six years or so. Find a ferret rescue group and email them questions, as these are pets that aren't for everyone. They do get expensive.

I had one for 6 years before cancer got him. He was underfoot a lot when he was out of the cage, and he'd get into EVERYTHING as fast as he could. You have to ferret proof the entire place which is hard, and you have to keep a very close eye on them so they don't eat anything plastic. They're like hyperactive two year olds on speed.

Your dad is right to question about them, have him email the ferret rescue places too.

Have you asked your dad why his answer is no? Find out what made him make the decision he made, and see if you can compromise. You say you know alot about them, did you know that ferrets are prone to certain cancers and other illnesses? Please visit www.ferretvillage.org for more information. It is great that you have researched them, but ferrets need alot of time and attention. I am the owner of four, and I have lots of ferret poop to clean up every day. I'm not trying to talk you out of it, I love my ferrets and wish everyone could or wanted to own a ferret. They take a huge amount of responsibility and vet checks. They can be very expensive too. Have you considered volunteering at a shelter who has ferrets? They are always looking for volunteers and ferrets need human contact. Hope this helps

Here is a pic of my four :)

i know exactly how you feel. after my 2 ferrets died my dad wouldn't let me get anymore :(
if he isn't sure, then that's not a NO, but maybe you need to give him more info. on them. make a powerpoint with info. and cute pictures of them.
also, they are expensive along with supplies, so offer to pay for half of it.
good luck, i hope you get your ferret!
