That it will be as big as the moon is absolutely rediculous!!! think about how close Mars would have to come to earth for that to be true...think about it. Earth's and Mars' orbits are never going to come that close together. If that were true don't you think we would have a mission to land on mars since it is going to be so close to Earth, it would be an easy cheap landing compared to traveling the real distance to Mars. Don't get your hopes up, when ever you can see Mars with your naked eye it is just a big red start in the sky.

sorry too burst your bubbleS.
bubble #1
You can always see mars (with the right weather and light conditions) with the naked eye.
bubble #2
if mars was close enough to look like a moon, it would be caught our gravity, it would suck up our moon, we'd suck up Phobos and Deimos (mars' moons) and all 5 would crash into each other. We'd ALL die
bubble #3
mars already made it "closest pass" in 2003
check out this map to understand Mars would never "suddenly" get that close to Earth. Just plug in the dates and submit

Don't you think nasa would be jumping to that opportunity and try to land a person or something on the planet???
It would be all over CNN or every other channel.
Mars is pretty close to us and Nasa did send a ship to it carring PHEONIX, a rover designed to dig around the N polar cap in search of signs of bacterial life
still not close enough to look like a moon though or even get much TV time.
I don't understand why people get an email and believe it to be true. NEVER assume that ALL EMAIL is the absolute truth.

Well, Mars can be seen with the naked eye most nights; being the closest planet to us. And Mars can never ever appear as big as the moon unless it moves almost as close to us.
And, Connor G., Nasa does not hire astrologists, unless they want their horoscope told to them. Also, 46 miles? Are you serious?? So, Mars is going to be close enough to be sucked into our planet via gravitational pull?
My god, either you were being majorly sarcastic, or you need to go take physical science again or something...

You can see Mars with the naked eye on most clear nights. But from Earth, it NEVER appears as big as the full Moon, and never will.

You can see Mars with the naked eye anytime its visible. Thats nothing special. It will just look like a point of light however. You need a telescope to see any kind of detail..

I got an email about this too, but I don't think Mars will go to such extremes. Hm.
