I think the best compliment a person can get is for doing a good job at something or an accomplishment,be it at work,a hobby,or just something around the house.

Bet compliment I can remember
I was leaving a bar in a city to go get something from my car
and a bunch of 20 somethings were passing by on the street
obviously having a good time
and one of the guys looked at me
and paused - which made all his friends look at him
he pointed at me and said, "Hey! You got it!"
I wondered what the freak he was talking about and he read my face and again said: "What everyone is looking for or wants to be - You got it!"
well hey, I smiled, ****** my head and said "Thanks" and gave him a thumbs up and continued on my way.
and I realized even then that it was a compliment.
I can think of none better except my mother always saying, "No matter how deep the deep sh*t doodoo you get into you always manage to come back up smelling like roses"
But then Mommies are supposed to be delighted with their children aint they? ... grin

I think the best compliments are related to one's character: being a good person, good at/adept at what they do, productive member of society. Compliments on looks or physical attractiveness are secondary and are probably what the person already knows. People are more likely to doubt what lies inside.

I'm a Christian, so the best compliment I could get is that I'm becoming more like Jesus all the time, and that others see my growth by my faith shown through my actions.

I smiled and clicked on your question. Then I saw the details and laughed.
There goes what I was going to say.
I guess, I love you just as you are.
