Why divorce rate is increasing in the world today?

Divorce rate has reached 50% in some countries such as the USA and 35% in some oil countries such as Kuwait. Families dont feel being secured in most poor countries. Why do you think this phenomena is wide spread all over the world?

Well my opinion, is that now a days there is a lack of self respect and self love. You have to respect and love yourself before you can show those kind of feelings to someone else. Not to mention the "free willing" affairs that go on in todays society.

Perhaps because years ago, women were taught to accept abuse, cheating and be supportive of their husbands, no matter what; and that divorcing was 'taboo' so many stayed in a marriage they otherwise wouldn't have.

Also, as women started becoming more educated and contributed to a greater percentage in the workforce, they found they did not 'have' to depend on a man to take care of them.

Also, too many people go into marriage, today, thinking they can always get out of it, if the going gets too rough. Think we should have pre-marriage classes to show the reality of what vows really mean. People would think twice before taking the plunge. Also, as promiscuity grew, more women became pregnant and many marriages began 'due to a pregnancy', not because of the committed love needed for a long term relationship.

I think it's because divorce is easy and can be done if anyone changes their mind about their spouse - it's certainly not all abusive relationships - whereas in the past, people took the vows of marriage when they seriously wanted to spend their lives with each other. I think it's a combination of different things...We live in a very materialistic world, where looks and money have replaced important values and where morality and decency are looked upon as "old-fashioned" and "stupid"....Sad, really.

People are brought up to believe marriage is a disposable thing, and many get married just out of curiosity. Many people don't get married for the right reasons or are willing to commit to making it work, either.

Actually the divorce rate in the USA is around 38-42% and has been steadily decreasing since the early 90's. As for why people divorce...because they can. People won't put up with other people's crap if they don't have to.
