People who say America is not the greatest country on earth have not travelled ENOUGH.
Last year, I made a serious decision, and that was to move to Europe. I like my life here, but it also highlights some of the huge advantages of the United States. For example, the U.S. produces so many fantastic movies, the best rock music on earth (even though RUSH) is Canadian, and has so many really high quality tv shows that it's hard to turn off the tv.
Culturally, America is very dynamic. American museums aren't staid, boring old places with moth-eaten displays. They are vibrant showcases for interactive learning and cutting edge discoveries.
Americans are by far the most generous people on earth. Even though a lot of Europeans hate Bush, they readily cite the unparalled generosity of Americans. For example, many Europeans I have met had the experience of working for a summer in the U.S. People were so kind and generous to them they couldn't believe it. No one in their own countries would ever even think of treating a stranger so well.
Rather than just blather on about how great America is, let's see the contrast with other countries. Outside of Europe, dissent is not allowed, and reprisals can be harsh. Don't even think of protesting in a place like Saudi Arabia. I'm headed to Dubai in a few days. It's a tiny country made fabulously wealthy by oil revenue, but don't look too hard behind the scenes, or you'll see the destitute immigrant workers who construct these glittering palaces to decadence.
Universities in Europe and other countries don't have the convivial atmosphere. University life in America is wonderful. In Europe, it's routinely a lesson in deprivation, living in horrible "dorms" and trying to keep your stuff from getting stolen. Teachers here are not exactly friendly. Being in the University can be a real social experience, but in Europe it's a lot more of a sterile atmosphere.
The U.S. military is so technologically superior that we've had to politely decline aid because it would be like someone offering a cap gun to someone with a machine gun.
Women? Well, that's a mixed bag. If you saw the gorgeous women in Slovakia, you'd flip. Czech girls are often top supermodels. They're all thin and beautiful.
America has its faults and its problems, but there's no place on earth with the dynamic, positive spirit of the U.S.

There is no country named America. The USA is the United States OF America not the United States IS America. The USA is a great country but if we had a lot better system of EDUCATION then maybe more people would know the name of the country they live in. If we had a better Education system, then maybe I would know how many countries are in America. I don't know. I think it is over twenty. They all must feel very insulted whenever anyone calls the USA "AMERICA!"

America is the entire western hemisphere--the United States is one country in America. You justify your position by oversimplifying the world into two tiers: the United States and the third world. If you had really traveled around the world, you would realize it was not that simplistic. As for minorities, ask some of your minority friends and neighbors how tough it is sometimes for them.

It is in my opinion. I suppose it depends on what we define as greatness. Many countries have things I like: shorter work weeks (Europe), better health care (Canada), most of them have longer school years - all things I think are good.
But America has many freedoms that we take as our right: public schools (with free lunches for those who qualify), financial aid to those who qualify, lower gas prices, right to travel, right to work, a minimum wage, religious choice, medicare for the elderly, and the list goes on. We are the only country being over run by people who want to move here, what does that tell us?

I don't get it,if you don't like the way father figures run the Family, you should leave?
I believe that without self criticism,we wont become better;but if you want to be stuck in w. the part of the apple not rotten, thinking nothing will touch yours and do nothing to change so,wait 'til it reaches your side and this country is wasted
We are all in the same boat, and it belongs to all

i will't stand it whilst human beings say issues like "u.s. is the worst usa on the face of this planet. we are place of abode evil. God on no account blessed us nor ever will. devil did and save doing it." purely in u.s. do you have the surprising to assert this type of element, the surprising to think of what you want to think of. there are a number of different countries available the place you would be killed or tortured. If u.s. is this type of terrible usa, then bypass away. you have that decision! If u.s. is this type of terrible usa, why do not you do something to make it extra helpful instead of merely sitting on your *** criticizing it. yet to respond to your question...are not getting me incorrect, i be responsive to u.s. has way extra suitable than that is honest share of issues. and that's slogan is finished crap. in my opinion there is not any best usa in the international. each and every usa has issues no be counted how appropriate it variety of feels. we are fat; yet we are in a position to deal with to pay for nutrition. we are in debt; because of the fact we've the luxurious of having a great number of fairly cool issues to decide on between, and we at the instant are not that smart? each and every physique can artwork to be smarter no be counted what their IQ is. even in spite of the indisputable fact that i'm a woman I certainly have the potential to bypass to varsity and get an coaching to develop into smarter. that doesn't ensue in each and every usa. And below no circumstances does God bless you mean "u.s. is Gods favourite usa. I dont be responsive to the place you examine that. have you ever sneezed and had somebody say "God bless you"? They definetly weren't asserting "you're Gods favourite guy or woman" To sum it up: u.s. isn't the perfect usa in the international, whether it extremely is by employing a techniques not the worst. i could plenty fairly stay in a position the place i will decide directly to do (almost) regardless of i want to do and be a sprint on the heavy element, or have some unpaid expenses then stay someplace the place i don't have the surprising to assert each and every thing I merely suggested

I do love being in America. Yet realistically by the standards you yourself set forth plenty of countries in the EU are not that different.

Apparently you've spent too much time in 3rd world countries, and not enough in Europe. Every person thinks that their country is the greatest ever. Every country is a mix of good and bad.
Patriotism is the refuge of the stupid.
