I'm typing this and listening to the yobs shouting ,screaming and letting off fireworks in the local park.
In the daytime you can see in the parkland broken glass, needles and condoms. Our wheelis bins are stolen and burned in the park. Fires have been lit and my neighbours who back onto the park have rung the Police only to be told fire isn't their responsiblity that is for the Fire Brigade.
Here is the best bit the Police Station is 200 yards from the park !

The last phrase of your question sums up the state of affairs here, in the U.K. The "police forces" up and down the country are a joke. If anyone threatened the safety of me or mine, they must be prepared to face the consequences ,this is the only way to make sure of justice. I've got a few years on me now, so balls to the "police" and their namby pamby criminal orientated "laws"

People might think that this is a completely misguided answer, but I believe that as long as he or she does so peacefully, a person has the right to make his community better, even if that means taking the law into your own hands. Organize a neighborhood group to help clean-up your area (a nicer looking living environment might change the way people live), and try to snuff out crime with protests, and a neighborhood watch program. Contact your local gov. officials so they can do something about your local police force; they could make sure that the police respond to all important calls, and that there is at least 1 car patrolling the area at all times. Push for a new police station, or at least a small office, near the park. Make sure that the area youth have enough activies to keep them busy during the day, and try to convince local gov. to institute a curfew at night (like people under 18 can't be out past 10 P.M.).

Please, use your best judgement when facing this issue, and make this issue a top priority among your neighbors. Hope that helped.

Its acceptable to me. But the law doesnt protect the innocent, it protects the criminal.
The trouble with taking the law into your own hands though is that you dont know what you are facing when you challenge any kid. They will almost certainly be armed, whether it be with a broken bottle or a gun.

To be perfectly honest though, I think the police are running scared of these teenagers. Senior officers will not put pcs into the firing lines because if they go out and start tackling crime like you describe, a lot of them are going to die.
Bring the army back and send in tanks and trained infantry to sort them out.

When we had a drug house across the street from our home in Miami, we called the police and later visited the local police station to no avail. My wife contacted a prior client who worked as a secretary for the police force. She gave us the name and phone number for the major in charge of narcotics. My wife spoke to him and we had a detective on the case within the same week.

When that detective didn't resolve the situation we called the major again and he sent another detective. Eventually, the situation was resolved but it took a lot of involvement and persistence. The squeaky wheel gets the grease!

don't know why they say every fire is the fire brigades responsibility but it is and if you call them they will turn up and if there is anything they think the police can do they will call them...

i have had to do this in my local park and it really made me mad because it seemed to me that it needed the police to try and catch the people doing it more than anything else...

however it's sad to hear everyone here has such negative experiences of their local police though because i don't think they are always like that, once my boyfriend left with his mums keys by mistake after visiting her and she had no way of getting in touch with him as where he lived there was no phone and she called the police and they came round to let him know what he'd done...and gave him and his mates a scare into the bargain...ha HA HA...

If you rent, move out!!

Not worth trying to tackle that lot, too many to confront unless you intend a serious amount of violence from the start. Which effectively makes you worse than them (or at least as bad).

Today you can use a bit of technology, video (or phone photo) send it to the media, they love a story and then you can use this medium to put your case. Especially as the police seem to have given up. They should be there every night if it is a known area for trouble.
Unfortunately thanks to the interpretation of H.R. and the P.C. idiots the police are now afraid to confront a situation until a serious offence has been committed in case they are sued.
The result is the deaths of young children.

If the fireworks are illegal then yeah that IS the cops responsibility. I don't know about there but I know where I am ARSON is the COP'S responsibility. Oh sure the Fire Dept is supposed to put it OUT, but they don't arrest the people who set the fire. No you still can't take the law in your own hands. The minute you do the police will suddenly step in- AGAINST YOU. They probably know who is causing the trouble and that is why they aren't stopping it.

In a riot situation, you can do just about anything & get away with it. I'm in Southern California & what you have described sounds like a regular day in my old neighborhood & some people have just chosen to carry sticks & mace with them when they go outside! The Police seem to be outnumbered & outmanuevered by the criminal element these days! No one can go barefoot unless they want to end up having to go to the hospital for stitches & tetnus shots!

My wife found a set of keys to a car in a park. The same type of car was parked just outside the park with a disabled badge in the window. She phoned the Police who were not interested. She was told to put the keys back where she found them. They refused even to take her phone number in case anyone phoned up.

I put a note on the windscreen of the car with our phone number. We later got a call from the woman owner who came round with a bunch of flowers. She and her daughter had spent 2 days searching for these keys. She called the same Police number hours after my wife did to see if anyone had found them and was told no. The AA wanted £400 just to get the door open which meant she would have then needed a tow truck. She was in tears when she came round and just kept thanking us.

The Police are utterly useless and deserve everything they get.

I think it's morally acceptable but definately not the best idea, think about your own safety first. Maybe try to record/video the noise and the rubbish that's left in the park, and write to your MP and council saying something needs to be done. Good luck with the situation.
