Does anyone know what happened in NYC last night?

I was walking home at about 1:30 am, and by 31st and 8th they had a helicopter with a searchlight out, as well as police cars, ambulances, and firetrucks. They were also putting up police tape. I can't find any information anywere about what happened, and i'm sooo curious! I just moved here to NYC, so I wasn't sure if it was some sort of drill or the real thing?

Does anyone know what happened?

Sure. A few shootings, some stabbings, some rapes, a little armed robbery, a whole lot of prostitution and a few muggings. Typical NYC night.
