A jeweler can appraise it on the spot in front of you. There's no reason to send it off.

Call your local jeweler with a Gemologist/Appraiser on staff. He/she should be able to make an appointment for you to come in with your piece while the appraiser does the actual appraisal work with you there. She should measure the diamonds and insure the authenticity of the stones, grade them, check the metal the watch is crafted in, look at the movement and casement, etc. A photo should also be taken of the piece. Watches do take a little bit more research than a standard jewelry appraisal, so the appraiser may not actually type the appraisal and hand it to you that day, but you won't have to part with your piece or have it our of your sight.

take a really good close up picture and include a detailed description and contact KORVEL'S ANTIQUE DEALERS on-line and they can give you an honest appraisal. don't know if they charge but it will be better that way than letting some one get their hands on a valuable watch.

call jewelers and ask if that is something they will do. You may have to make an appointment. Perhaps they have a private or separate room that you can acutally be with them while they do the appraisal.I would think that most of them will
understand.

It's quite simple. Stay while the watch is appraised. Most jewelery appraisers don't mind.
