They are sending a camera down the new hole when it is complete. The same type of camera was used in the 9/11 rescue efforts. I am not sure if it is infared but it is suppose to have a very high power and good lighting

I thought about that several weeks ago.. Stop stealing my ideas.. Actually, I wanted to float a helium type balloon next to the opening at the ceiling, carrying an infared sensor and or minature camera to a wireless transceiver at the base of the hole. and steer it with some type of remote control jets... skimming along the ceiling... Also they could have put a tranceiver on rats or other animals that would seek out a dead body for consumption..

Why would you do that? They've already send 6 visible light cameras down, and found nothing.
