It's from the sweep stake at our wedding to guess the time of the speeches. Who should we give it to? Any ideas please?

I would give it to the MS society as it affects my family.
If you do not have a charity that has helped any of your close families or friends you could donate it to a local hospice or hospital (if a hospital you can specify the department if you wanted).

Another idea would be to google search charites or look in your yellow pages and choose one that you have not heard about before - do a little research into what the charity does. This way you learn more about lesser known illnesses/problems and how society can help alleviate symptoms and fund research into treatments and cures. If you can appreciate the charity(ies) you look into you will be able to confidently donate your money, and may be tempted to help with future fundraising.

The Dogs Trust will never put a healthy dog down. Even if this means the charity has to look after the dog for the duration of his/her life! For this reason, I sponsor a dog from said charity.

I can tell you that £45 will be enough to feed a dog in the charity's kennels for about 16 weeks.

That should buy 52 tins of cheap lager which you can give to that bloke laying on the pavement at the bottom of the road.

Poor sod hasn't had a drink since yesterday.

That's a great idea! Donate it to a charity that would be meaningful to yourself or a member of your family eg cancer charity if a family member has suffered from cancer.
