Why are there no British fast food chains?

There are Wimpy, Poppins, Little Chef & Pizza Express are a few.

Fish and Chips
And it's Americans who invented it all. They're the biggest consumers. F**k me you can get coffee in pints there. So it's not really surprising it all came from them.
And aren't there enough fast food chains without having British ones aswell?

An interesting question.
Today, Britons have to work and live at such a pace that even taking five minutes to walk from the office to McDonbuggerKfc and collect a burger is begrudged by employers. The chilled sandwich, sold at absurd prices, using bread 'baked' by the Chorleywood Process (Google or Wiki it) limp, tasteless lettuce and reconstituted slaughterhouse slurry (meat) is the UK fast food, often available in vending machines that do not give change, or peddled by suppliers in the entrance halls of corporate buildings. One does have to chuck in some slops for the pigs, if you want any yield from them.
In my last (and final - I'm never going down that road again) office job in London, my boss, who was FRENCH, dagnabbit, used to send out a minion to bring her a BLT sandwich from a chain-store.
Fast food is too slow for us Britons.

cause american fast food is better. I sware, when i went to the UK this summer, the mcdonalds and kfc did not taste like anything. And the portions are sooo small!
