I think of a vows as a promise and it's just a nice
way to make a marriage sound better.
Would you t ake a vow to never see any of your old friends ever again?
If your fucture wife has a friend she has made a
soluem Vow to a man or women,or even to her
parents,or anyone it hasto be respected.
If your afraid she might love him some time,or in
the past, your starting your fucture out bad.
To answere your question would mean i would hafto
kmow more about the situation.
Marriage is bases on blind trust, and sharing.
I'm sure your fucture wife will share some of the
facts on the Vow she made.

Actually, they are very similar, but I sense a very subtle difference between the two, with VOW being the more serious and long term commitment to abide by a formally sworn upon oath. A promise implies an absolute assurance to do an act, or to grant someone else's bidding, but it just doesn't carry the long term effect in my sensibilities as does a vow.

The word is interchangable....a vow is a promise, but sometimes people think of a vow as even more serious.
You don't need a vow for a friendship....if you are true friends, you won't desert that person....it doesn't seem to fit.

Your fiancee is correct about vows are promises!!!!! IF you think that they are not, then you are in the WRONG relationship and are not meant to be there until you know that vows and promises are one in the same. It is a matter of symantics here.

Vows are much more serious than promises. A vow is promising your deity that you will do certain things. It holds punishment possibilities in certain religions and even some governments if not kept.
Promises are a one sided agreement to do something. Breaking them is not nice but it is not punishable under religion or government.

I do not understand? if you think vows are not promises. what do you think they are?
Yes, they are promises. have you ever wander why, they call them wedding vows? or why the president takes a vow to do his best for the Country? yes, they are promises to do what they should. if not why, would they even bother saying them, if they do not mean anything at all?

Hi there! I think vows have more than friendship, because it is "til death do you part". It is not just a friendship relationship because it involves a lot of responsibilities. If you have friend do you think till death do you part? In friendship responsibility isn't obligatory. But in vows it is. In every kind of relationship of course there is friendship in between, but still theres differences.
