Some people carry a lot of pain inside, or for some it may be guilt. But self-harming is a way for many to let that pain out that they feel inside,or the guilt. Some do it in order to feel pain, because they don't think they can feel anything else. Some do it because they feel that it is the only thing they have control of, their own bodies! Some do it, because they like the sight of blood. Some is just for attention. Some actually do it as a way to try to end their lives! I am one! I know! I did it to let out the pain inside! I'm in Therapy! And have gone many years now without self-harming! It's very addictive, and once you start it's very hard to stop! If you want any more information about Self-harming, feel free to e-mail me!

It is taking the pain away from them mentally and puts it where they are cutting. Cutting releases natural endorphines in the body to deal with pain as well. How do I know this because my child was a cutter and we finally found a good hospital to put her in and they were wonderful and she is now doing great. I hope this helps, but if you know some one cutting the sooner they get help the better cause it will only get worse.

People self harm when something bothers them and it is just a reaction most people get and need to take their misery onto something so they self harm. My friend used to self harm about home but she stops because she finds something better to do. It can also cause skin infections but that wasn't your question lol. Okay people self harm because of home, relationships ... almost anything! It 'makes' them feel better and they need to take it out on something or they feel to bad.
Hope this helped x

many people self harm because they feel as thou it is the only way they can have a realise from something that is stressing them out in their life. sometimes its an attention thing but not in a bad way...they self harm so that someone will notice that they are doing it and ask them what is wrong because they may feel as thou they have no one to talk to

external pains have injurys, injurys heal.
internal pains arent visible only seem to keep hurting, with no garantee that they heal.
so take an interanl pain, and make it an external one.
the pain is now outside (temporarliy), and it hurts, theres an obvious reason why (internal pain can get confusing, with no central point) all of this in it self can be relieving, the control over the pain can be too.
in essence, at its heart, it takes pain form the inside and puts in the outside.

I wondered myself until I started doing it myself. That is when I realised that for myself, it is a way of release of all of the things that are hurting us in our lives. You don't think about doing it, it just happens. It can be anything from pulling out hair/eylashes etc to cutting. Help is needed when you get to this stage.

Self inflicted pain, such as " cutting" is usually the result of severe emotional problems and is, in my opinion, an expressiion of self hatred.

Go to the Internet and look it up. There are several spots.
I have read on this several times. They are suffering severe depression, or bipolar, need mental therapy, can lead to suicide. They are at a very low stage and it can become very serious, they really need help!!
