My laptops ethernet port will not read any network cables i try to put into it. Also it will not 'lock in' any of the cables. Is there some way that this can be fixed?

If there is any dirt or debris in the port, it can interfere with it. Use a cotton swab (Q-tip) dipped in alcohol to carefully wipe it out.

I don't know how to fix the locking problem. It is a problem I get with some network cards, especially older ones.
