The pipe under my toilet tank is dripping. I need to shut off the water before applying the sealer. There is a faucet type handle on the pipe. Is this where I shut off the water? If so do I turn it to the left or right?

That is the place. You will see a pipe or tube going up from that valve into the toilet tank as confirmation that it is the one. You turn the handle counter clockwise (to right) to shut it.

After that turning flush the toilet and verify that it is not refilling.

Yes this is the place to turn off your toilet water. Turn it to until you can't turn the handle anymore. Flush the toilet if the tank doesn't fill with water you turned it the right way. If it fills up turn it the other way.

Your tank won't drain completly so you'll need to soak up the remaining water in the tank with a sponge or something. It doesn't look like much water but it will make a mess on the floor.

Righty-tighty...Lefty-Loosie (or lucy). Just turn it in a CLOCKWISE Direction & that will be to the right. If it does not shut off due to rust, etc, then you have to shut off your water at the main valve in the street or in the yard. Good luck. If you still can't figure it out, then take a screw-top jar or bottle with you to refer back to for practice.

most toilets have a valve right inder the resevour. however, if yours does not, try to follow the pipes to the nearest valve in the cellar. If that does not work, just shut off the main. I am assuming you want to shut it off for repair.

Check the flapper valve(Rubber flap) at the bottom of the tank, make sure it is down in the drain hole, also check the water valve in the tank you might have damaged it.

the valve to your toilet is behind the toilet you have to tern it to the right and if for some reason that does not work then go and find the main shutoff valve in your house and also turn that to the right.
