Hi Dancingqueenie, The best advice I can give you for your new arrivals is get the biggest tank you can possibly afford/fit in your home as soon as possible-it needs to be lidded & have a good filter. You also need to get a declorinator liquid to treat your water as it is harmful to fish untreated.
The attached link should tell you almost everything you need to know about caring properly for them. These 2 little fish have the potential to grow over a foot long & live many years so have fun & good luck!

If you are talking over night I wouldn't worry about it. They can go for a while without food. But as far as the fish tank with gold fish they don't need to be in anything smaller than a 20 gal. And the water needs to be prepared for them. Don't put them into water straight from the tap. It can be complicated so be sure to find a pet store that is knowledgeable in setting up an new aquarium. Never put a fish especially a goldfish in a fish bowl. It really isn't a good idea to get a fish before your setup. Keep this in mind. Transferring is a delicate process for a fish even if you have a great setup already. Don't be too upset if your fish doesn't make it. That is a possibility. Evita

Congrats on the new babies! They will be fine without food until morning. But, if you have lettuce, peas or orange slices, you can feed them that. It is good for them to eat that once in a while anyway, along with fish food pellets, and other htings like frozen brine shrimp
As for the location, PLEASE don't get a fish bowl! They WILL die in it, it is a misnomer that they can survive. And the ones who do are suffering and just strong. Spend $22 and get a simple 10 gallon with filter from Petsmart -- it is about the same price as those bowls they sell, since they try to make them all fancy. They will suffocate if you don't have a wide opening at top, and if you don't reintroduce air into the water.
Also, make sure the water they are in is dechlorinated, or htey will be poisoned. Keep them in the water they came in, if there is no dechlorinator, or use bottled water until you can get some. Good luck with your babies!
PS< 10 gallon would be just a start, but I suggest it only because while it is by no means good enough, it is MUCH better than a bowl! I would take up that great advice and look into the petco sale -- a 20 gallon with big gorgeous goldfish is SOOO LOVELY, and it would allow yoru fish to get big, beautiful, to interact with you better, get brighter colors, and live for more than 20 years! How cool would that be! Go for it!
PS< you dont want to overfeed goldfish, but make sure you do feed them at least once every three days -- four days if on vacation. However, as for a regular basis I would feed them once a day. good luck!

I think they would be better off hungry than end up in water with pieces of an old BigMac and Fries floating in there. Maybe a friend can give you some goldfish food. Otherwise get the food early tomorrow and feed them as soon as possible.

You need at least a 20 gallon tank, they are having a big sale at petco for a dollar a gallon, they need no heaters but require a filter. You should not feed them untill you get the fish food. Unless its a necessity.

No don't worry about it Fish can go quite a long time without food. They can live in the bowl for now. I would recommend checking out craigslist.org for a tank people even give that kinda stuff away.
