Work on the book first hon. You have a long way to go before you are ready to talk publishers. However this may help both you and your mother. On my profile, I have starred many Q and A regarding writing and publishing. You can print them out and study them. I star any new questions I see that help young writers. So keep checking back. If you save a collection of them, they will help you and your mother learn to advocate for yourselves and find the help you need. Pax - C

Agree that you're a long way from pitching the book idea to publishers. But if you want a good resource to find them when you reach that point, try the Writer's Market.
