It really depends on who they are idolizing and who you consider to be a good role model. Paris Hilton would be a pathetic person to be idolizing. She is lazy, slutty, and spoiled. Michael Jordan, on the other hand, could really inspire children to to work hard at their dreams to achieve them. There are far more admirable celebs and pathetic ones.

do i think parents should be smoking krack while they leave their children at home in a hot and sweltering tine little apartment, with no food in the refrigerator or anyone to look up to? No. so if you think young adults shouldn't have idols, think again. but this also depends because i don't doubt that Paris Hilton is a drug addict.

It depends on who you look up to. People who you see everyday in tabloids (LiLo, Paris) aren't what I would call a role model. Getting high on heroin or crack isn't good behavior.
People who have a good message to get across, like Gerard Way of MCR, are good role models ("If you ever feel depressed, tell someone. You have a place in this world."). Unfortunately, there aren't many like him in the industry.
