Then, as an added bonus, you get ***-raped by a family court, which is hostile toward men. When that's over, you have the pleasure of living a life of financial and emotional ruin. Where's the incentive?

Yes! Men are responsible for a failed marriage, and so are women. it would be nice if they took some responsibility too - instead of deflecting all the blame - like you just did.

Allen, I appreciate your input but the information is available in the Census, if you want to take a look. An overwhelming majority of divorces are initiated by women. And it may have been true, that most cheaters were men, around 50 years ago, but not any more.

American men do just as much of the cheating as women do. They are equally to blame for the divorce rate. It is true that the courts can be biased against men who want nothing but to do the right thing and see their children, but there are also a lot of men who would rather leave their ex-wives and children penniless.
If you personally do not believe a marriage will not work, don't get married. There are still plenty of happily married men out there, who have good relationships with their wives. Marriage is a constant effort, but worth it for many.

Wow - I could have written what you wrote! Marriage licenses should come with a disclaimer on all the rights a man gives up when getting married.
I see answers that say you're bitter, well why not? When your rights are suspended and you become a slave to the ex.
Allan is obviously a women with nothing to back her claims. It's that type of mentality that makes divorce so 1 sided.
Marcie: women get married to do all you said THEN take everything a man ever had too. YOU (and women like you) are the problem.

EDIT: If you are saying that I am blaming men totally for divorces you are seriously wrong...I was merely stating that men also need to share the blame...based upon your question you were implying that women are the sole ones to blame. It is the responsibility of both people to keep a marriage working.
Foot note: I divorced my first husband...I took nothing from him....I didn't ask for half the house, half his 401K...absolutely nothing....why??? Because we have 3 teenagers and they live with him....because I no longer live in the same state.....Could have I gotten more from him? YES! But the needs of my children came first and I didn't hate my ex husband and didn't feel the need to take him to the cleaners THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

Why would an american woman get married? As a single woman, she can have a successful career, raise beautiful children, call the shots in her sex life, and walk away from a sexist pig without having to ask a courts permission.

First, it's not always women that divorce men. As a matter of fact, women are more faithful than men (I'm a man, and even I admit this). Women are the gentler of the sexes. It's men who typically initiate the divorce. Gosh, I can't believe how ignorant you are!

i am divorced and i can say it was pretty much my fault, but he didnt suffer with finances since i never asked for child support or anything.
even if you arent married there is a chance of getting hurt as long as you have relationships.
