No he should not be sentenced to death....some time in jail i can agree with and some public humiliation-fine.
But sentencing him death is a little over the line on this one.

little over the top, there.
Gotta agree w/Uthemanj on this one. Punish the crime for what it is, but do we have to kkep giving fuel for all the fools playing the race card?
But i think all these people supporting him, and excusing him need to really look at the issues, also. and stop trying to make it sound like he is the only one being persecuted. In this case alone i believe he had 3 "friends" all looking at a worse sentence then Vick is. Really the only people making it such a focus on Vick is the media, the NAACP, and some dumb rednecks. Plenty of folks are quitley being busted for dogfighting all the time, Just not famous people. And guess what, have the media put the spotlight on you is what being famous means.

Why are some people so stupid? Why would someone say he should die over some dogs? Who cares? If he was a white man he probably would have gotten a pat on the back and would not have to be going through all of this. I don't care what anyone says Race plays an important part in everything believe if you want to, ITS TRUE. It's crazy what he did. People are still doing it. I'm sure he wasn't the only one on his team that was involved. He was wrong!!!

I know you've heard this before, but Vick is a product of his culture. Estimates say 100,000 are engaged in this dog fighting but I think it is far more. I've known of this for some time & run a "no kill" dog shelter & unlike many do accept pit bulls that have fought in the ring. Fighting pit bulls have to have their own fenced enclosure & contrary to popular perception, are usually very loving toward humans. However, they will attack other dogs given the chance. Some few have been badly abused by humans & have to be carefully isolated for the rest of their days.
Needless to say, I live in a very rural area & can easily fence off another 1/3 acre for those dogs or pit bulls that have been too abused to ever reenter dog society. Charging Vick with these crimes will be very helpful to those of us attempting to shed light on the illegal fighting of animals for these "sports".
My experience with these "dog fighters" leads me to believe that they are predominately the product of a culture among the poor black & latino cultures... though some poor whites are among them.
I also take issue with some of the "Animal Rights" groups that believe the only solution to the problem is to kill any pit bull that has fought. They are almost as abusive as some of those engaged in the fighting. My 10 yr old son has slept with his pit bull since the age of 3. The dog walks him to & from the school bus & is absolutely devoted to the boy. I do not worry about some pedophile grabbing him.
Back to Vick: The man has been educated on the evils of what he was doing & I'd like to use his popularity to shed light on this problem. If we completely destroy him then we lose a valuable asset that can be used to shed light on this problem. Belive it or not, most of those in this culture see nothing wrong with dog fighting & even love their dogs.
Edit:
I am amazed at how little cognitive ability is displayed by so many posters in here. These are the same simpletons that hang onto every word about the Paris Hilton crowd. The media has whipped up this hysteria to increase ratings & yes, what Vick did deserves punishment. I propose we use this to end the culture of animal abuse so common in our society. I raise beef cattle, but never abuse animals... however, I value human life above all other life forms.

Yes--he should be--dogs are quite like humans in a lot of ways--they are affectionate caring creatures--regardless of the breed of the dog--dogs give humans a lesson in love to many--they are domesticated--they have feelings and are the best pet a man could ever have--no excuses for Vick--don't feel sorry for him or think that moran deserves a second chance--he;s a sick individual who should be tortured the same way he tortured and killed those dogs--no exceptions--then again its just an opinion

I think we should all just let him serve his time. Its already gonna be hard for him to get a job in the league, and that if any owner wants to take that risk with him and that will be a huge risk considering how much revenue the owner will probably lose. But Michael Vick is already losing a lot because of his stupid mistake. Lets just let him serve his time and leave him alone. Everybody makes mistakes.

DEATH penalty!
You see this is an example of people getting WAY too emotional in this case. Walking a deer, what does that have to do with anything? Killing a deer just to add a decoration in your living room or over your fireplace is inhumane too. And NO, the death penalty is not necessary.

He wasn't man enough! He had a plea deal. If he didn't do this and rat out some other dogfighters he would of been in jail longer.
As for his punishment it should fit the crime. He should be put in a cage full of pitbulls.

Sentenced to death? Yes what he did was morally reprehensible, but to give him the death penalty wouldn't be a punishment that is representative of the crime. Now if you wanted to get a couple of rabid dogs a five minute go with him in a cage match...I would be down with that.

People have got to calm down with this ****. Bro he killed dogs, not people. I'm not sayin it's right, but he's gettin exactly what he deserves. I think people who go around killing human beings deserve the death penalty everytime but i think that we are goin crazy when you talk about the death penalty for killing dogs. Plus to that guy who said killing deer is inhumane, how do you think humans got by in life for thousands of years. People had to hunt to live. And to all vegetarians out there, you guys are idiots too.
